On September 13, 2019, the FDA announced that Zantac contains unsafe levels of a probable human carcinogen called N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA). The active ingredient in Zantac is ranitidine, which metabolizes into dangerous levels of NDMA through heated chemical reactions in the body.
