Distracted driving from cell phone use or texting, DUI’s and other impaired driving, carelessness, purposely blowing red lights, being in too big of a hurry and bad judgment all contribute to the causes of these accidents.

Unfortunately, Omaha has become nationally known as a dangerous place to drive.  Ranked #4 by Insurify as one of the 10 states with the worst drivers (2022), it’s no wonder why these accidents are occurring.  Our share of rule breaking motorists is 29% greater than the national average.

This time of year is motorcycle season, and we as a society really need to think about what we’re doing behind the wheel.  Motorcycle riders have as much right to the road as everyone else, so let’s all try and please do a better job when we’re out driving about.  Motorcycles obviously don’t offer the level of protection of a car or truck in an accident, so be especially aware when you see or hear one near you.

The latest motorcycle accident incident, where a young man was critically injured on Northwest Radial Highway was caused by a woman who was citied with a DUI.  This was at 4:30pm in the afternoon.   It was reported by law enforcement the young man received a non-life threatening trauma injury.

Through no fault of his own, and for the recklessness of this impaired woman, this young man’s life will never be the same.  We of course wish this young man a speedy and as full a recovery as possible, but what else can we do.

From a legal perspective, our team of personal injury and motorcycle crash attorneys can help navigate the complicated issues that arise before and after a legal case is filed. We will look out for the best interests of our clients to ensure they are adequately taken care of by the insurance company. Insurers do not have your best interests in mind, although they will likely try to offer you a settlement that is far less than you truly deserve.

The truth is, without an attorney in your corner, the insurance company will likely pressure you to accept the smallest accident settlement possible. Always remember – that’s what they get paid to do. They are hired to protect the insurance company’s bottom line.

Additionally, you risk signing a release agreement that would free the insurance company from having to pay for any future medical costs that could arise as a result of the crash. Without consulting an attorney, you may also receive far less money than you need to make sure you are taken care of today and in the event that your future health declines as a result of your injuries.

We are experts at assessing fault, analyzing accident scenes, gathering evidence, reviewing medical records, conducting interviews, and other fact-finding tasks to determine acts of negligence.

If you have been injured as a result of carelessness by another driver, or a family member has been hurt or killed, you owe it to yourself and your family to consult a seasoned legal team.  We cannot undo the accident, but we can help with the repercussions from it.
